Cute kids and fall colors

Took the kids out last weekend to get a few pictures with the fall colors before they disappear. It's starting to get pretty chilly around here, there was ice on the car windows this morning! I'll probably regret saying this later but I can't wait for the snow to come. It'll probably only be fun and exciting the first couple times and then after that I'll be praying for spring, but still, at the moment I can't wait to let the kids play in the snow. For now though we'll enjoy the beautiful fall colors everywhere :)

Star Wars Lego

Quinn has been really into Legos since he got his first set of real ones this summer. The other day he got a set of Star Wars Legos and has been playing with them ever since....

A dress

Last week after looking at all those dress patterns that I wanted to try and make for Adelyn, I bought some fall-ish looking fabric and attempted to make this dress. It turned out pretty well for my first time making it! I put it on her one day when Addy and I went to see Brian at school and got a couple pictures of her.


This is when I knew we were done taking pictures haha!

Our little bee

Yesterday we went to a pumpkin patch to let the kids pick out a few pumpkins. I wanted to get some pictures of Adelyn in her costume so I brought along the camera, plopped her in the field and snapped a few shots. She is so stinkin' cute!

Branching out

I've been sewing a few years now but I haven't tried making too many clothing items. BUT now that I have a little girl I keep finding TONS of cute patterns that I want to try with Adelyn. (Like this, this and this, just to name a few!) This weekend I bought a cheap pattern on etsy, that I definitely could have figured out on my own if I had tried oh well, and made Addy this very simple skirt. It's too bad I didn't start this months ago since it's about to be freezing here in central NY but maybe I can just get a head start on outfits for spring ;)

Exploring...

One of the best things about being in the military (well Brian, but you know what I mean!) is seeing parts of the country that you would probably never see otherwise. I can pretty much guarantee you that I would have never picked to come to Syracuse for a vacation or anything. But I keep finding more things that I love about this area. We've had a couple people tell us that we need to go see the town of Skaneateles (pronounced skinny atlas) so we went the other day to explore a little and I immediately fell in love with the town. It's such a cute little lake town, with adorable homes and cute shops, I just loved it. It was raining that day and we weren't able to do too much, so we went back tonight for some dinner and to walk around a little more.


Love it! Can't wait to see it covered in snow!

Recent quilt

This past weekend was a sewing weekend here at the house. My Mom and I both got this pattern while I was there in Texas over the summer. I took the easy way out and did it a little different but I still love how it turned out. And it will definitely be put to good use here in New York because we are already starting to have cold days. Well cold to us, it was in the high 40's on Saturday and we were freezing! Heck I was pretty chilly in Cali if it was in the 50's! I have no idea what we are going to do when it actually gets cold here.
